Dear BASTILLE FESTIVAL Runners
With just over two months to go, to our planned event date, it is starting to look like we will not be allowed to operate the Bastille Day Trail Run on 11th July. The Franschhoek Bastille Day festival has been cancelled.
It seems Sports Events will be last on the agenda for re-opening in SA.
Of course, there are many dynamics to work on when moving an event, especially avoiding too many ‘lockdown’ events all featuring at the same time later in the year. As you know, we also host www.trailrunning.co.za, the calendar of all good trail running races in SA, and we are in contact with most trail running event organisers.
We are looking at a date in October, for a celebratory Oktoberfest! A different celebration but still the same awesome mountain adventure, ice cold beer and live music.
We hope you use this time for some ongoing fitness training within the confines of lockdown. Diving head first into your personal best by October!
We will not be offering refunds, and for this we apologise unreservedly. Our Ts & Cs state that we do not pay refunds, but that is the small print that nobody likes in a stressed situation like this. Energy Events have never cancelled an event in 20 years, so we are in new ground here. Our business has been hit hard by lockdown, with lost Sponsorship income and our Tourism revenue has ceased completely. We take heart that during lockdown we have received several entries for the Cederberg Traverse in October and the famous Table Mountain Challenge in September.
We hope to offer a favourable rollover for your money already spent, please understand there are several event planning items and costs outside of our control.
We welcome all your comments and suggestions, please email us here.
We will be in touch again soon,
Regards Trevor and Caeli
